Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology Dr.Deepa trained from the high volume regional center for Obstetrics in Mysore, namely J.S.S. Medical college hospital, and then worked as Assistant professor of Gynecology at St. John's Medical College hospital for over eight years. She specialized further in laparoscopic surgery, with a fellowship at Altius Hospital for minimally invasive surgery. To augment her expertise in minimally invasive or Laparoscopic surgery, she spent considerable time operating with senior specialists who are full time experts doing exclusive Laparoscopic surgery, both in Bangalore and across the country.

  • HIGHLIGHTS:

    • Managed all types of obstetric high-risk cases successfully as the primary care consultant. I have a keen interest in High- Risk Obstetrics, and have individually managed more than 1500 high-risk deliveries, including C- Sections, instrumental deliveries, medical management, at St John’s MedicalCollege & Hospital.
    • Assisted in over 500 laparoscopic surgical procedures during my three year residency at J.S.S Medical College at Mysore. These ranged from the simple diagnostic Hysteroscopy & Laparoscopy to the Total laparoscopic Hysterectomy. Seeing my keen interest in laparoscopic surgery, I was given quite a few opportunities to perform simpler parts of some of these procedures.
    • After joining St. John’s Medical College Hospital, I have independently performed a goodnumber of simple laparoscopic procedures, including diagnostic Hysteroscopy & Laparoscopy, cystectomy, ectopic pregnancy, laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy.
    • At Altius Hospital, Bangalore, under the guidance of Dr B.Ramesh, I was able to improve my laparoscopic skills. Here, I assisted him in numerous advanced laparoscopic surgicalprocedures.
    • Under the able guidance of Dr Pankaj Mathe, I got to perform Total Laparoscopic hysterectomy on a number of patients, while also assisting him in many complex surgical procedures.
    • I have attended numerous workshops on laparoscopic surgery.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Independently manage patients admitted to our unit, both high-risk obstetrics and Gynaecology.
    • Help as part of a team for more complicated and difficult cases.
    • Actively participate in the teaching of post-graduate residents and under graduates.
    • In-charge of the academic program for the residents in the department.
